Choose Wisely

Choose Wisely is a program in partnership with the Troy Police Department for all 4th grade students in the Troy School District focused on good decision making. Students learn how to examine their own behavior and choose acceptable alternatives to irresponsible and potentially illegal behavior. Each year this program reaches over 800 4th grade students.

Tar Wars

Tar Wars is a program in partnership with Corewell Health for all 5th grade students in the Troy School District focused on Tobacco and Nicotine prevention. This program explores the health and social impact of smoking, vaping, and smokeless tobacco. Each year this program reaches over 800 5th grade students.

Addiction Awareness

Addiction Awareness is a program for high school students where a person in recovery shares their story with addiction. This program covers a variety of topics including underage drinking, drinking and driving, marijuana use, prescription medication abuse, heroin, and fentanyl. Each year this program reaches over 700 high school students

Incredible Kids

Is a youthrecognition program.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, teachers, and adults to recognize a child, in grades K-6, who has made a positive influence within the classroom, community, or home. They may have assisted a neighbor, volunteered for an organization, or overcome an obstacle. A healthy society recognizes the importance of all members of their community.

Summer Camp

Our camp serves youth ages 8–13, offering skill-building, prevention education, recreation, arts and crafts, and field trips. Many campers are referred by principals, counselors, or parents. The camp runs for four weeks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with transportation provided. It impacts over 50 children, along with the camp director, counselors, and their families—creating a supportive, fun, and healthy summer experience.

Adult Holiday Pledge

Adult Holiday Pledges are reminders to the adults in our community to be good examples to our youth. These are shared around a variety of holidays, particularly holidays that have an alcohol or substance use culture around them.

Project Sticker Shock

Project Sticker Shock is a program where in partnership with local retailers, the coalition put stickers reminding people of the cost of providing alcohol to minors on alcohol products. These aim to remind adults of the legal consequences of providing alcohol to minors.

Retailer Education

Each year the Troy Community Coalition visits every tobacco retailer in the City of Troy to provide educational materials on tobacco law and tobacco best practices. In addition to the educational materials we also provide updates signage for the Youth Tobacco Act and birthdate signs in English, Spanish, and Arabic
