Is a youthrecognition program. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, teachers, and adults to recognize a child, in grades K-6, who has made a positive influence within the classroom, community, or home. They may have assisted a neighbor, volunteered for an organization, or overcome an obstacle. A healthy society recognizes the importance of all members of their community.
Our camp serves youth ages 8–13, offering skill-building, prevention education, recreation, arts and crafts, and field trips. Many campers are referred by principals, counselors, or parents. The camp runs for four weeks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with transportation provided. It impacts over 50 children, along with the camp director, counselors, and their families—creating a supportive, fun, and healthy summer experience.
Adult Holiday Pledges are reminders to the adults in our community to be good examples to our youth. These are shared around a variety of holidays, particularly holidays that have an alcohol or substance use culture around them.
Project Sticker Shock is a program where in partnership with local retailers, the coalition put stickers reminding people of the cost of providing alcohol to minors on alcohol products. These aim to remind adults of the legal consequences of providing alcohol to minors.
Each year the Troy Community Coalition visits every tobacco retailer in the City of Troy to provide educational materials on tobacco law and tobacco best practices.
